Lauren + Daniel ··· San Juan Capistrano Engagement + Portraits
Lauren is a sweet friend of mine who is a super talented photographer! She is the owner of LA Creative Studio, a local photography studio I respect and admire so much. She’s also getting married this year to Daniel… wahoo! Since it’s the off-season for weddings, we decided to meet up and give ourselves an assignment – photograph each other at the same location, within the same hour. Shooting alongside another photographer to get different results isn’t easy, but I loved the challenge and being forced to think creatively.
Be sure to check out the photos Lauren took of me + Erik here. I loved what she wrote about our session together:
Instead of feeling like just another photographer out there, Cami and I decided that we are going to root each other on and help each other grow in each others business. What a cool way to start a community of people who believe in each other and their talents…and genuinely want the best for the other person. This shoot is a reflection of us trying new things and encouraging one another.
God created us all differently, so even though we were in the same place taking pictures, I see the world differently through my lens then Cami does…and that is okay. That is what makes all of us, not just artists, different.
Do you have a peer in your industry that you go to for honest, genuine feedback? It’s so easy to isolate yourself and become intimidated by competition, but I believe this is essential for your own personal growth! Please post any thoughts you have on this below!
Lauren + Daniel, thanks for hanging out with me and Erik! I’m so excited for what 2012 has in store for both of you!
